At the meeting of the Greater Cambridge City Deal Board I asked that having widespread support the two Cross City Cycling Schemes affecting my Fulbourn County Council Division should go ahead without delay  and asked for confirmation that work to extend the Fulbourn Road Scheme to Capital Park and Fulbourn village was in hand.

The Board agreed to both schemes – doubling the budget for the Cross City Schemes from £4m to £8m – and officers promised there would be an upgrade to the shared cycle path along Cambridge Road to Fulbourn.

The scheme affecting Fen Ditton includes a combined pedestrian and cycle crossing for Fen Ditton Primary School and a safe route along Ditton Lane and in response to Fen Ditton Parish Council they agreed to ensure the new cycle path joined up with the existing Horningsea shared path.

There was also a promise to further develop the Tins Cycle Route from Cherry Hinton via Fulbourn Old Drift and Hinton Road  into Fulbourn village.

All in all it was a good day for Fen Ditton, Fulbourn and Horningsea cyclists.
