Conservative controlled Cambridgeshire is consulting on making changes to the county council’s fairer contributions policy which would see people who receive benefits paying much more towards the cost of their own care.

The whole of the higher rate of Personal Independence Payments will be included in assessments, whereas at the moment the higher rate for care for the Disability Living Allowance is not counted.

This proposals to increase the contributions for council services paid by people already struggling to make ends meet have been pronounced grossly unfair by Liberal Democrat councillors.

We estimate that Conservatives will be taking an additional £27.45 a week from some of the most vulnerable individuals.
