Over the past six months we have seen a retraction in local bus services firstly with Whippet and now more recently with Stagecoach.

It may be coincidence that this has happened since the Mayor and his Combined Authority took over as the Local Transport Authority and has such responsibility for bus services in the county.

The Mayor has announced a review of bus services but my understanding is that the terms of reference for this review have yet to be finalised,  let alone a consultant sought to carry out the work which will take at least nine months to complete.

He will then have to make up his mind as to whether to bring the bus services under his direct control or allow profit to continue to be the motive for where and when they run under continued deregulation.

But will we have any bus services left by then I wonder?

This complete lack of urgency by the Mayor is very telling compared to his enthusiasm to press on with a Metro for Cambridge.  Buses and bus passengers are clearly off his radar.
