Lib Dem Councillor for Fulbourn Learn more
by johnwilliams on 6 May, 2017
South Cambridgeshire Liberal Democrats held back the Conservative tide by retaining their existing five Cambridgeshire County Council seats and gaining one from the Conservatives. We also got within two votes of taking a second Conservative seat.
In the Fulbourn Division I received 1,217 votes, with my Conservative opponent polling 899, Labour 548 and the Greens 141. This means I got 43.4% of the vote.
The Liberal Democrat county council group now has 15 councillors (up from the previous 14) and is the official opposition to the Conservatives who now have 36 of the 61 seats on the county council having routed UKIP.
