Cambridgeshire County Council is threatening to close 19 of the 40 Children’s Centres in Cambridgeshire in order to cut £1 million pounds from their budget.

The Conservative run council is consulting on this over the summer holidays when most families have other things on their mind.

Some of the things Children’s Centres offer families include:

• access to health services such as midwives and health visitors
• family support services – trained staff who can support you if you need help or want some advice
• advice about early years education and childcare
• employment, training and benefits advice
• drop-in play sessions
• parenting courses
• a meeting place for childminders
• dads’ groups

The Childrens Centre at Berwick Bridge Primary School serving Fulbourn, Cherry Hinton and the surrounding villages is threatened with closure.
