Liberal Democrats launch manifesto for Cambridgeshire

by johnwilliams on 17 April, 2017

Our manifesto promises to offer a listening, caring and responsible alternative to the Conservatives at Shire Hall.

So what would the Lib Dems do?

  • we’d make the money available to support social care in the community. And we’d do that in partnership with parish and town councils and bring together other local agencies so that we could respond more quickly and more effectively when there’s a need.
  • we’d get local people involved in decision making about their communities. Lib Dems have long held the belief that decisions should be taken as close to the action as possible
  • we’d encourage all agencies to work together: councils, the NHS and the police, 3rd sector agencies and private sector providers.
  • we’d ensure that communities are connected. We’d look again at rural bus services and see which ones are needed to connect smaller communities with bigger ones. And we’d make sure that all houses and all small businesses in all communities have access to high speed broadband.
  • we’d fund necessary community facilities like children’s centres and libraries. We recognise that these are the essential glue which binds a community and that they go beyond just their prime functions and facilitate more community cohesion.
