Local cycling gets a boost

by johnwilliams on 22 December, 2016

The shared cycle and pedestrian path planned along the B1102 between Lode and Stow-cum-Quy has been given planning permission.

The work will start soon and will enable Stow residents to reach schools and the health centre in Bottisham safely by bike.

I spoke in favour of the shared path at the planning meeting and urged the county council to get on with it.

A county report into potential “Greenway” cycle routes into Cambridge from surrounding villages has backed my bid to have a safe cycle route from the Wilbrahams to Bottisham to join the National Cycle Route into the City.

The report also proposes improvements to Fulbourn Old Drift and the Tins cycle route to Mill Road – and it proposes a new route from Stow-cum-Quy to Newmarket Road.

And of course following my support at the City Deal Board meeting we have City Deal money funding a shared path along Fulbourn Road between Yarrow Road and the Robin Hood at Cherry Hinton and the improvements to Ditton Lane and Horningsea Road in Fen Ditton including a cycle/pedestrian crossing for Fen Ditton Primary School.
