Mayor poll flawed – shame on MORI

by johnwilliams on 9 September, 2016

Do you remember that we were told by the Conservatives that if we wanted the A14 improved we had to accept a toll road.  Anyone including myself who opposed the toll were said by them to be against improving the A14.  In the end the A14 is being improved without a toll.

Now they’re at it again over the proposed “devolution” proposal for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.  They said you can’t have it without a Mayor.  And this time they pushed this line in the MORI poll when asking if people were for or against devolution.

Even so despite this bias only just over half of those interviewed “supported” a Mayor having been told by the MORI interviewee that they couldn’t have devolution without one.

Interestingly those who knew about the proposals and responded to the online survey while in favour of devolution were overwhelmingly against the Mayor.

Lib Dems do not support a Mayor.  We do not want to spend £5 million a year on another layer of local council bureaucracy – money that could be spent on front line services that are so badly under resourced already.
